8-month old baby stabbed 90 times with scissors by his mother

Eight months old Xiao Bao was stabbed 90 times in the face with scissors by his mother for biting her while she was breastfeeding him. The incident that has left many people shocked happened in Xuzhou, in the eastern China Jiangsu province. After the attack, the mother disappeared leaving the infant in a pool of his blood in the yard of their home. Xiao was found by his uncle who rushed him to the hospital. The baby needed more than 100 stitches. The mother, who has since been arrested, is not known to be suffering any kind of mental illness.

Dame Jonathan Hits Back At Wole Soyinka

First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan yesterday hit back at Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, saying out of sheer “self-righteously indignant lecterns”, he had betrayed his moral duty in his recent tirade on her in which he linked her to the ongoing crisis rocking her home state of Rivers.

Soyinka had at a press conference on Thursday asked President Goodluck Jonathan to call his wife to order over what he described as the first lady’s overbearing influence and heating of the Rivers’ polity.

In a statement by her special assistant on media, Mr. Ayo Osinlu, the first lady accused Soyinka of taking sides with Amaechi because “they are friends.”

“Prof Soyinka’s friendship with Amaechi is no secret. There is no attempt by the two to hide it, anyway. On the premise of that, the cerebral prodigy should encourage his younger friend to retrace his steps, make peace with his party and the people of his state, as well as smoothen the feathers he has ruffled.

“MY EX-HUSBAND HAS GONE MAD” -Laide Bakare

The story of Laide Bakare’s separation from her old husband has remained a puzzle for many reasons. This is because of the fact that the more she tries to exonerate herself, the messier the situation she found herself as her ex has refused to let go of the matter. Yesterday, Laide’s publicist issued a statement which according to them is to put the record straight. According to the statement, the Nollywood Star Actress, Laide Bakare, would like to set the records straight regarding her decision to walk away from her old marriage to Mr. Olumide Okufulire.

She, however, will be brief because, according to her, she has a reputation that would not be allowed to be sacrificed on the altar of falsehood, frustration and desperation that she believes has become the hallmark her erstwhile husband, Mr. Okufulire.

Laide said she could not believe it was Mr. Okufulire who had said all he was quoted to have said in news magazines’ serial interviews. “Ordinarily, I would not believe all the stories of him saying those rubbish in the media. May be he was being pushed to say those things by those who know nothing about how we lived together or, may be, they just want to put him in a big trouble”, Laide had said

Reacting to his alleged claim that he was going for a DNA test over their child, Laide said that Mr. Olumide, if he actually said that, “must have gone mad”. she alleged that Olumide “must be oozing from chronic drunkenness which became his status long before she met him.She is simply daring him to go ahead with the decision. “Let him go ahead if he really meant it but I’m sure he has run mad.

On the claim by Mr. Okufulire that Laide never separated from him as wife before she wedded another man, in this case, Mr. Tunde Oriowo, the actress stated that she actually divorced Mr. Olumide Okufulire in October 2011 from the marriage of understanding she had with him.”I divorced him properly and normally”, she said. Continuing, Laide said that, five consecutive times, court injunction papers were sent to Mr. Okufulire notifying him of her (Laide’s) decision to quit the marriage but that Okufulire would not sign the documents neither did he return any of those documents.

“When I realized that he was not ready to let go of me after I was sure I had done enough trying to salvage him from chronic drinking of alcohol and other things I would not like to talk about now, including other bad habits that usually follow heavy drinking, I sought the advice of my lawyers who told me I was good to go. That was in 2011, around October. I have left him since then”. According to Laide, even while they were married, they never stayed together as husband and wife. It was their collective agreement, though. “He would only visit me in Nigeria when he felt like and then left. I would also visit him in America and returned to my career in Nigeria. It was an understanding between us”.

What actually poisoned her mind against the marriage with Mr. Olumide, according to the actress, was when she discovered that Mr. Olumide has a grown up child and two different women. “He lied to me that he was never married and had no children yet when we agreed to marry. But I was shocked to find out later that he has a 14 years old son, his first, in Ondo, Ile Oluji, named OLAOLUWA, and she has a mistress living with him in America named TOSIN. What I faced learning about these women should not be a subject for the public but the best decision was for me to leave. My new husband, I met him almost one year after I left him. That is just to let the public know the truth about me because I’m a celebrity and nobody knows him until he got married to Laide Bakare”.

Olumide is a disappointment. I know what I’m talking about. He has disappointed so many people I know. I went through a lot staying with him. I had to be dragged to pay heavy debts he owed people which I knew nothing about. He kept drinking heavily and owing debts leaving me to pay them. Yet he was dishonest. If truly he has said he would arrest me, he should know that I’m the one that can put him in trouble. Let him back his talks with action. He must be unserious and irresponsible to have said he wanted a DNA for our daughter. Let him do it, I’m available but that is not the hallmark of a good father. But I’m not ready to talk on the matter again because I’m now a free woman. I have a new live now which I’m enjoying with my lovely husband, the biological father of my new baby, Babatunde”. 

The actress said that though she ordinarily would not react to Mr. Okufulire’s tantrums because of the future of their little daughter’s future, but it is imperative to speak up so that those who read and give comments to her ex-husband’s claims can have a balanced picture of the issue.

Angry Mobs Sets Suspected Robbers Ablaze In Lagos For Stealing Recharge Cards

                                

An angry mob has set three suspected armed robbers ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State.

We learnt on Thursday that the robbers were set on fire on Wednesday evening, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on Governor’s Road.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed burnt tyres, carcass of a burnt motorcycle and some human flesh on the side of the road.

The recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, told our correspondent that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers.

She said a few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stole recharge cards worth N400,000 before fleeing.

She said, “Around 5pm, I was closing the shop when the men approached me saying they wanted to buy recharge card.

“Before I knew what was happening, the men brought out guns and went into my shop, They stole recharge cards and money. I engaged them in a struggle and attempted to prevent them from fleeing. They overpowered me and used the butts of their guns to hit me in the face and head.”

Our correspondent learnt that the robbers allegedly snatched a motorcycle and shot a man in the area and were fleeing when a motorist knocked them down.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said a bystander prevented them from fleeing as he pelted them with stones while they were attempting to stand up.

Other residents quickly joined the bystander and grabbed the weak robbers, beating them up to a pulp.

He said, “After the vehicle knocked them down while they were attempting to escape, we seized them and beat them to a pulp. The crowd grew larger and this attracted the attention of policemen.”

Our correspondent learnt that a team of policemen from Ikotun Police Station stormedthe scene and attempted to rescue the robbers but were overwhelmed by the mob.

It was learnt that policemen even fired gunshots into the air but the mob remained adamant.

A woman, who runs a bar in the area, said another team of policemen also arrived from Area M, Idimu, but the mob set the robbers ablaze.

She said, “The policemen came in a patrol vehicle and asked the crowd to hand over the robbers but they refused because they did not trust the police.

“Another team of policemen also came but the crowd ignored them. Some of them (crowd) got tyres, placed them round the robbers’ necks and set them ablaze.

“They however handed over their guns to the police.”

When asked why the residents took laws intotheir own hands, the woman said there had been an increase in robbery in the area and the police had failed them.

She said, “It is because armed robbers have been terrorising us that is why we close our shops early. Last year, a pregnant woman was robbed and killed in this area.

“We cannot continue to fold our arms. By this act, robbers will be afraid anytime they think of coming here.”

Akporhono told our correspondent that her recharge cards were still with the police and they had refused to return them to her.

“Police are holding my recharge cards as exhibit, I want them back because I am the victim,” she said.

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said she was aware of the incident and promised to call back.

Pastor Arrested With 317 Kegs Of Stolen Petrol

Officials of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit have arrested a pastor and three others over alleged oil theft at Majidun, Ikorodu area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

At least, 317 fifty-litre kegs of petrol, amounting to 15,850 litres were recovered by the taskforce officials during the raid. The suspects and the 317 kegs of petrol were brought to the taskforce office at Alausa..

Baby Without Brain Born In Kaduda

A woman believed to be in her 30’s yesterday gave birth to what appears to be a baby without a brain at the General hospital Kagarko, Kagarko local government area of Kaduna State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the woman delivered her baby early yesterday morning in the hands of nurses and midwives at the hospital.

Recall that only on Monday, a woman had given birth to a monkey-like baby at the same hospital. A health worker at the hospital told our correspondent that the baby which later died after delivery was born abnormal.

10 people confirmed dead as 3-storey building collapses in Lagos

 Rasheed Idowu of Olorunsogo area of Ilorin on Monday told an Area Court in the city that he wanted to end his marriage to his wife, Ganiyat, because she was a talkative.

The 45-year-old man told the court that his wife was fond of discussing her family affair with friends and business colleagues.
"My wife cannot keep a secret for a minute; instead she prefers consulting friends for advice," he said.

According to him, the marriage was contracted in 2011 and was yet to produce any child.

The ‘off to work‘ in the tweet is obviously a diss – that is -proving to Tonto Dikeh that she doesn’t give a damn about what she (Tonto) thinks, plus she loves her work!
